I'm the shaved ice maker in the family. Ever since I was young, I had to hand-crank that little ice shaver...child labor! I've tried many different varieties of ice, but not this one. Thanks for the recipe..seems simple. Though I have not found instant green tea powder in two of the Asian marts around me. But it rocks that Haagen Dasz(?) now carries the green tea ice cream flavor in some American groceries (I think the quality is way better and not as sweet as ice cream in Asian mart). What I like to do is put the ice cream on the bottom so the shaved ice on top melts nicely and neatly together. I find that putting ice as first layer melts too quickly and becomes more watery, but if ice cream is bottom, the melty parts become more creamy. Thanks again.

Oooh, looks like you went to a different part of the Great Wall than we did when we went. It looks less touristy where you were, that's really nice! It's hard enough trying not to fall all the way down w/o people crowding you. Then again, maybe you would have had someone to cushion your fall. ^_^ Great photos! Hope you're doing well!

I'll be leaving your side of the hemisphere soon, mon ami. Pity you weren't able to stop by Taiwan this summer. However, if I come back to Taiwan while you're still in China, maybe you can find some time to visit. Glad to hear you're still doing well!

Hello, my favorite fearless world traveler! Looks and sounds like you're having a great time. I enjoyed your update. Just watch out for the fake drugs and cardboard food.

I heard a bit on NPR about the FBI's new STAR, System to Assess Risk, that sounds a lot like what you once worked on. Is it related, or just a similar concept?

Phi! I'm glad to hear you're doing well. Hope China is treating you okay. Just remember to be on your guard. Oh, and avoid the smokers if you can (easier said than done, I know). I probably told you this last time, but DO NOT EAT THE SEAFOOD. Trust me on that one.

my first advanced class with Jiang Bang Jun was similar. I did my straightsword form for him to correct and i was so affected by the wushu-awesomeness around me that i gave it all i had and one of my sword tassels flew off. it's okay tho, i hated the darn tassels. now i have an excuse to get cool BLACK ones! haha!

Hey Phil, it would've been cool to hang out more often during your time here in the SF bay area. Good luck with your endeavors in Beijing and I have a feeling that our paths will cross again. Keep in touch and take care buddy!

Hey Phil, wow, it seems everyone is moving to China! If you need some contacts in Beijing let me know and ask Hao, too. We just finished our China trip last week. I'm in Taiwan so if you have the chance to stop by this summer, let me know!
